#GAAYouth Forum 2018

The #GAAYouth Forum 2018 was designed by young players, for young players. The Forum in partnership with Sky Sports was fun filled and informative day with a mix of interactive exhibitions, workshops, a youth congress, high profile speakers and a Q&A session.
With workshops designed for three specific age-grades (12 – 13; 14 – 15; 16 – 21 years), players left the Forum having learned invaluable tips and tools that will help them to develop as a player and as a person.
There was a number of activities at the Forum including:
  • Exhibition Zone – Camogie Association were represented in this Zone and had large engagement with attendees, camogie players in particular. We ran an Instagram competition using our Camogie Association Instagram Frame with our winner gathering up over 500 likes! We, also, conducted a short survey getting the opinion of the young people. See the results below!
  • Workshops and Talks – Camogie speakers, Úna Sinnott of Wexford addressed attendees on a range of issues from developing leadership skills both on and off the field to overcoming challenges as a player.
  • Youth Congress – the 16 + age group had an opportunity to discuss and debate a range of issues of importance in Gaelic Games today with 68% voting for Camogie, GAA and LGFA to be one organisation. As well as this, 77% of attendees stated they had received verbal abuse from parents/supporters and 66% from Coaches. Food for thought for all organisations!
  • Q&A – the 2 Johnnie’s will questions from the attendees to Cáit Devane of Tipperary on a number of topics including how to do your best a trials.
