NATIONAL LEAGUE – DIVISION ONE PREVIEWS
DUBLIN V CLARE (Sun Naomh Mearn¾g 2pm)
Dublin or Clare have no chance of qualifying for the league final, so this Group One tie is for pride. Clare are unlucky to be pointless following a narrow defeat to Tipperary and a loss to Kilkenny, the results do not reflect the good work being done since their promotion to senior.
Dublin, meanwhile, are not going well. They have shipped two heavy defeats and Eimear Brannigan is out injured. Even though at home they will have their work cut out to beat the Banner.
CORK V LIMERICK (Sun Mallow 3.15pm)
With Wexford blowing the league right open last Sunday following their win over Galway, Cork have it all to play for now. A win here would set them up nicely for their remaining game with the Slaneysiders next weekend. If the Rebels win triumph in both matches then, Galway, Wexford andCork would be involved in a three-way play off to see who will meet Kilkenny or Tipperary in the final.
Unfortunately, Limerick are pointless, and they are unlikely to trouble the All Ireland champions at the splendid GAA complex in Mallow.
National League Division 3:
Laois vs Down, Donaghmore Ashbourne 2.30pm
Offaly vs Armagh, Kinnity 2.30pm
There are two games in the National League Division 3 tomorrow with Down taking on Laois and Armagh away to Offaly.
Down manager Joe Baldwin is hopeful that his side will secure the top spot in spite of injury concerns: “”We have a few injury worries, some top names could miss the Laois match but we have enough depth in the squad that should see us through. So far we have used 31 players so it’s been a real squad effort that has put us in the position we find ourselves,”” said Baldwin.
The good news for Down is that top scorer Catherine McGourty returns.
In the other League game Armagh play Laois and the girls from the Orchard County will be hoping that tomorrow will bring them their first win of the campaign.
“”We need to be patient, Offaly will be a tough test for us as they were All Ireland finalists but we have to give it our all and see what happens,”” said ækeeper Bronagh Keenan.
