Eight of the country’s most talented Camogie stars from seven third level colleges were recognised for their contribution to camogie.
The scholarships, which were presented by President of the Camogie Association Liz Howard, will see €7,000 distributed between this year’s recipients. This is the fourth year of the scheme.
The scholarships are given to those who have helped the development of Camogie within their own clubs, counties and colleges.
Each recipient will be required to contribute time to development of the game within their county and college over the next twelve months including skills training and coaching camps to research of participation in Camogie within their region.
Liz Howard, President of the Camogie Association, sees this as an important part of the development of the game. “”It is important that Camogie is vibrant in third level colleges. On graduation many players will be leaders in business, commerce and other fields where their influence will ensure that Camogie is to the forefront.””
