Midfielder Michelle Tobin was the heroine for BCS Lismore when she fired
over four  points to inspire her side to victory over Colaiste Phobal
Roscrea at St Cronans GAA pitch, Roscrea on Sunday. In a highly
entertaining game played before a sizeable crowd it was the ability of the
BCS girls to take their scoring opportunities that was the principle
difference between two very evenly matched sides. BCS started well but
wasted two close in frees in the opening three minutes. With Roscrea captain
Kathryn Browne and midfielder Sarah Cleary urging their team forward the
first score of the game arrived on the 4th minute with a well-taken point by
Sarah Kirwan. In the 7th minute the Roscrea keeper, Kate Aherne, who had an
excellent game, saved point blank from BCS corner forward Gemma Tobin who
had collected a well taken sideline ball from Michelle Tobin. In the 12th
minute the latter levelled the game with a close in free. With both defences
dominant scores were at a premium and i
ndeed BCS were well served mid way through the first half with sterling
defence by goalkeeper, Tracey Kelly and corner back Niamh Prendergast who
cleared up many Roscrea attacks. In the 27th minute Leona McLeish pointed
for Roscrea following good approach play from wingback Louise Larkin, and
again moments later keeper Kate Aherne was in action when batting out a
dangerous ball from BCS Sarah Fenton. On the 30th minute Aoife Hannon
restored parity for BCS and at half time it stood at 2 points each.

BCS adopted a running game from midfield at the start of the second half and
this resulted in a Michelle Tobin point after great work from Marie Russell
and Caitriona McGlone on the 31st minute. Roscrea were under severe pressure
but refused to drop their heads with Jane OMeara, Louise Larkin and Sarah
Cleary trying hard. However BCS were not to be denied and two pointed frees
on the 42nd and 49th minute stretched their lead. Sarah Cleary pointed a
free on the 61st minute for Roscrea but it was to be BCS day.
