Long serving camogie volunteer Marion Conway of Roscommon was presented with the prestigious Sighle Nic an Ultaigh award by President of the Camogie Association Aileen Lawlor on Saturday night (March 29th) at the Camogie Association Annual Conference banquet.
Marion, of the Athleague Camogie Club, Roscommon has been heavily involved in camogie since becoming Roscommon Camogie Secretary in 1976 and has served as an officer at either county or provincial level every year since. She has been one of the driving forces behind her club, following her election as Club Secretary in 1984, a post which she still holds.
Marion juggles this position with that of Connacht Camogie Secretary and Treasurer. In addition to a wide ranging career as a camogie administrator Marion has also been involved in managing and training club and inter-county teams, including the Junior Camogie team in 2000, U16 & U18 teams in 2006 and 2007 while she has also refereed at club and inter-county level.
President of the Camogie Association Aileen Lawlor said:
"Marion is highly regarded for her tireless work to the promotion and development of camogie and is a most deserving recipient of the Sighle Nic an Ultaigh Award. I congratulate her most sincerely on behalf of the Camogie Association. Volunteers are the bedrock of Camogie and without their efforts the game of camogie would not thrive and flourish. Marion has been involved in all levels, carrying out her many roles with enthusiasm, commitment and interest."

The Síghle Nic an Ultaigh award commemorates the memory of Sighle Nic an Ultaigh, the eighth president of the Camogie Association. In 1998, as a tribute to her long service to the game, she was awarded life presidency of the Association.
