The Coillte School of Excellence took place this afternoon at Croke Park with eight counties attending the annual U-14 camogie development day.
Representatives from Kerry, Galway, Down, Monaghan, Offaly, Meath, Dublin and Wexford made the journey to GAA Headquarters to participate in a day of camogie matches; skills seminars; nutrition presentations and questions and answers sessions with inter-county camogie stars, Mary Leacy of Wexford and Louise O’Hara of Dublin.
Speaking about the Coillte School of Excellence Camogie Association President Joan O’Flynn: “”Today is the culmination of fun and skill development over recent months as part of the various County Development squads. Congratulations to all eight teams involved and a special thank you to all the mentors, coaches, parents and families who are involved in nurturing and supporting our young players to participate, enjoy and learn the skills of camogie.””
“”Camogie is also indebted to Coillte and John Torpey Hurleys for their support. In tough economic times, sponsorship is worth so much and I am delighted that through Camogie we can support and recognise their support. We are also extremely grateful to the GAA for the use of Croke Park Stadium for this special event.””
This is the seventh year of the Camogie Association & Coillte School of Excellence partnership which supports the development of under-age camogie nationwide.
“”At Coillte we build powerful relationships and strive for excellence in everything we do. We are happy to be able to play a part in the development of young camogie talent across the country through our involvement in this year’s U-14 Development Squads,”” said David Gunning, CEO of Coillte.
