Another great weekends camogie, Over 160 girls attended in Croom last weekend for our annual U8 development blitz. Twelve Limerick clubs participated with Charleville from Co. Cork invited to take  part aswell. The weather did not help the situation but our U8’s are a determined lot and showed up in plenty of time to help with the smooth running of the event.

Our Ref for the day was Peter Finn with Co-Ordinators Tom Allen, Paul Doyle and Olive Sheehan helping out. Peter was the man in the middle for 21 games, each team playing 3 matches of seven minutes a half. Even at this early stage some of the girls showed that they have a bright future playing  camogie and no doubt in years to come a number of them will wear the county jersey with pride.

Thanks to all the girls, their mentors and parents for giving of their time over the past twelve months to help their club and county camogie develop  for the future.

U11 City League

Well done to Crecora Camogie club who won the 2009 Limerick City U11 A league. Crecora were Captained by Aoife Coughlan and played some great Camogie to capture the title for the second year  in a row. The future is bright for Crecora underage with some lovely young talent coming through.

Congratulations to Crecora club man Maurice Barrett on his election to the position of Treasure of  Limerick County Board for 2010.

Club Information

Even though the 2009 season is coming to an end, the wheels are in motion for 2010, the inter county fixtures will be out in the coming weeks and clubs will be having their AGM’s. To that end can I put a call out to all club pro’s to keep  in touch with me over the coming weeks and months so that we can keep the Limerick public aware of whats happening in Camogie.

I will be in contact regularly with all  club pro’s over the coming year, and to start with, just a few things i will need,

1. all notes/reports that you want included in the weekly newsletter, the media or mentioned on local radio must be emailed to me by 6pm on monday’s, all notes/reports etc to be done in a word document.

2. team lists for programs also to be done in a word document and sent to me at least 4 working days before match or in the case of adult finals 6 working days

3. team photos should be taken of all teams in your club as early as possible in the season and emailed to me.

4. your club web page needs to be kept up to date(photos, news, acheivements history etc), 4 to 6 photos can go on your page and if you have a main sponsor send me on all their contact details and i can include them in your page, you are responsible for the content of your club webpage —only what you send me will go up, weekly reports can go on your page (again in word format) or you can advertise events on it,

As soon as your club has its AGM, let me know of all changes, ie chairperson, secratary, treasure, pro etc

County Convention 2009

Woodland House Hotel Adare Tuesday Nov 17th

A lively county convention for ’09,a lot of  motions were debated, some getting passed and others not, all clubs were in attendance with two honoured guests also making appearances. Eithne Neville from Croagh-Kilfinny and National President of Camogie Joan Flynn both attended. Eithne who has a senior all-ireland camogie medal( won with Dublin in 1957) was warmly welcomed and Joan, on one of her many trips to Limerick this year, addressed the delegates, giving an update of what is happening at national level in  Camogie. The president stayed on for all of the meeting and took many questions from the eager crowd. Limerick County board would like to thank Joan for making herself available on the night. Not much change at the top table for the coming year, Ann Herbert(NCW) and Nora Kelliher(Templeglantine) stepped down with Maurice Barrett(Crecora) coming in.

Limerick Camogie would like to pay tribute to both Ann and Nora for all their hard work on behalf of Camogie over the past number of years and wish them well for the future.
