Scariff Easter Camogie Camp 2009
A camogie easter camp was held in Scariff on April 6th-8th and proved to be hugely enjoyable for all participants.
The camp in Scariff catered for clubs in the East Clare area and was attended by players from Scariff, Whitegate, Feakle, Killanena, Bodyke and Killaloe. All of these players were between the ages of 8 and 12 years.
A total of sixty children attended, practicing the skills of the game, participating in small sided games and taking part in skills competitions.
The girls were coached by members of the Clare camogie team and on the final day each girl was presented with Tshirts and Baseball Caps generously sponsored by M. Donnelly.
Skills competition winners at the 10-12 age group were Rachel Minogue, Siobhan Tuohy and Regan Conway and in the 8-10 year old section the awards went to Laura Hayes, Katie Minogue and Ciara Doyle. The player of the camp award went to Rachel Moloney and the most improved player was Shauna Canny.
Munster Camogie Development Coordinator Deirdre Murphy paid tribute to all the coaches, Ber Madden and Scariff GAA Club who made the running of 3 fun filled days of camogie possible and expressed the hope that camogie in east clare will continue to grow and flourish.
