The Camogie Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Maura McCloy, a former Camogie player for Derry and Bellaghy Wolfe Tones GAC.

Maura was born in Derry in 1960 and was known for her skill and dedication to Camogie. Maura was a key player for her club and county teams. Since her retirement, she remained highly involved in the Camogie community as a coach and a mentor. Maura served as Chairperson of the Derry Camogie County Board and remained a committee member up until recent years. She was also a selector on the All-Stars committee. She remained on this selection committee until 2021.  Maura was also a current member of Ulster Council.

Maura continued to support the Camogie Association at fixtures and events right up to recent times and will be sadly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Maura’s family and friends at this time.

Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a hAnam.
