Lisa Casserly played a starring role for Athenry, as they enjoyed their first Galway Senior Championship victory since 2009. She delivered in defence throughout the campaign, as they overcame Disckboro in the last four, before seeing off St Finbarr’s in a thrilling replay. Lisa’s display in the second half of the replay victory was instrumental in tipping the game their way and capped a campaign that saw her prove a huge influence.

Uachtarán an Chumainn Camógaíochta, Brian Molloy, said:

“Congratulations to Lisa Casserly on being named the AIB Camogie Club Player of the Year. Lisa delivered outstanding performances throughout the championship and played a central role in Athenry’s remarkable campaign. Her skill, leadership and consistency across the season exemplified the very best of club camogie. As someone who has known Lisa from her days playing Camogie with Ballinderreen, it has been a pleasure to watch her development over the years into one of the outstanding players in the game. A former Ireland underage international in soccer and a previous Intermediate Player of the Year at inter-county level, this award is a fitting recognition of her dedication and her continued excellence on the field. Comhghairdeas le Lisa agus leis na himreoirí uilig ar bronnadh gradaim orthu anocht. I would also like to thank AIB for their continued support of the Camogie Club Championships and for championing the club game across all four codes, which remains the heartbeat of our Associations.”
