The Steering Group on Integration (SGI) held its first meeting on 4 November under new Chairperson, John Horan, in Croke Park, marking an important next step in the ongoing integration process.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Camogie Association, GAA & Ladies Gaelic Football Association to continue building towards One Association for all Gaelic games. The Group’s focus is on maintaining momentum, providing continuity from work completed to date and progressing the next phase of the integration journey.
To support the work of the SGI, a strengthened project structure has been put in place. John Horan will lead a Project Team comprising the Ard-Stiúrthóirí of the three Associations and supported by a strengthened project management function which will draw on internal and
external sources as required. Their priority is to operationalise the progress report and create a clear vision with milestones for implementation. They will bring a programme of work to the relevant Management Committee, Central Council and Congress meetings of the three associations during the early months of 2027.
The Group agreed that proactive communication and meaningful stakeholder engagement will be central to the next phase of the programme. SGI Project Team will place a particular emphasis on keeping members, volunteers and key stakeholders informed as the programme progresses.
As part of this commitment, the SGI is also publishing a Progress Report outlining the significant body of work completed across the integration programme to date. The report provides a high-level overview of progress achieved and the foundations that have been established to support future integration milestones.
The Group also agreed, in principle, to establish a new full-time role dedicated to supporting clubs in adopting the One Club model, providing practical support to County and Provincial Integration Workgroups, and strengthening collaboration across the associations through joint initiatives.
Speaking following the meeting, Chairperson John Horan said:
“There remains a strong and shared commitment across all three associations to continue progressing towards One Association. Significant work has already been completed and there is a clear recognition of the opportunities that greater integration presents for our members, clubs and communities.
“My priority as Chairperson is to ensure that momentum is maintained, that stakeholders are engaged in a meaningful way, and that there is clarity around the next steps as we continue this important journey together.”
