700 girls attend Caman to Leinster!
The Caman to Leinster event was held on Sunday March 12th in the GAA Games Development Centre at the National Sports Campus in Dublin. 40 teams with over 700 girls participated in the Camogie Association’s annual U12 participation blitz. A big thank you to all the mentors and parents who brought the girls to this fantastic venue and enjoyed a great day of Camogie meeting other clubs from all over the province. All of these teams will now be in a draw for the National event ‘Caman to Croker’ which takes place this year on Easter Monday March 17th.

Kildare Foundation Coaching Course
Tutors Brendan Phelan and Noel Wilson led an excellent Foundation level coaching course recently at Moorefield GAA club, Co. Kildare (thank you to Moorefield). The tutors challenged the participants existing approach to coaching and there was a lot of learning around the subject of coaching the young player on the day. The 19 participants on the day, coming from 7 different clubs (a good mix of 3 new clubs and 4 established clubs) got a lot from the day to help them with a new approach and thinking in relation to coaching at their clubs.
Strike for Glory Blitz
The new County Minor Competition ‘Strike for Glory’ had its first blitz on Saturday March 11th at the Games Development Centre in Abbotstown.
The counties participating (Donegal, Kerry, Monaghan, Wicklow & Mayo) are in the Tier 3 ‘Grow the game’ category for Camogie and need to experience appropriate levels of competition. This developmental championship gives the elite players in these counties an opportunity to play games and increase their skill set on a tournament basis until the knockout stages.
A great day of Camogie was had by all. Kerry emerged as competition leaders after blitz 1, closely followed by Wicklow on 6pts and Mayo on 5 points.
Blitz 2 of this competition is on March 26th.
