The Dubs have been impressive so far in this year’s campaign and two wins from four was good enough to see them through to the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Championship Senior Quarter-Finals.

Dublin’s Síle Nic Coitir is happy where they are but is aware that the team has areas to work on before the Quarter-Final clash with Wexford, “We are just delighted to make it to the Quarter-Finals but there’s plenty of room for improvement”.

The Dubs started their campaign with a crucial win against Clare which proved to be vital as Dublin finished two points clear of the Banner County in the race for qualification to the knockout stages. They were then beaten by a strong Galway team before bravely edging out a spirited Waterford side in Walsh Park.

David Herity’s side finished off the group stages with a loss away to Kilkenny. However, Síle told us if it had not been for a few silly mistakes against Galway and Kilkenny, they wouldn’t have been far off the group’s top two, “We really put it to Galway and then just made a few silly mistakes. Again, it was a few silly mistakes that led to Kilkenny’s goals and it kind of sucked the life out of us.”

This will be the second meeting of Dublin and Wexford this year, having already met in the group stages of the National League campaign back in May. The Dubs got the better of Wexford that day and Síle mentioned the rivalry that exists between the two counties. “Wexford are no joke and there’s a nice bit of history there, a good long history between us and Wexford”.

The Dubs will take a lot of confidence from their recent performances but Nic Coitir is relishing being labelled as the underdogs ahead of Saturday’s Quarter-Final. “I don’t know what people are expecting of us after the annihilation Kilkenny gave us and I think that’s a nice way of going into the game as an underdog.”
