Last night Wednesday the 9th of November 2011 saw Gortletteragh’s Hurling club hold it’s first indoor Camogie session for the girls of the area.
Following on from the recent success of their senior Hurling team it was another historic occasion for the Gortletteragh area.
The Gortletteragh girls will take part in an exciting new initiative being rolled out in four club areas in Leitrim. The Four Club Areas taking part are Gortletteragh, Manorhamilton, Carrick on Shannon and Ballinamore.
There will be 2 blitzes for the teams to participate in. One will be held pre Christmas and one will be held post Christmas.
They will be 7 – a – side indoor blitzes. Some clubs will be entering two teams to facilitate all interested players in their area. This initiative is aimed at adult players so there is no age restriction. The main emphasis is on fun and learning the game but with the competitive nature of these talented girls, the blitz days are sure to produce some great Camogie!
A huge thank you to Mickey Dorrigan who’s enthusiasm for the game is a key factor in Gortletteragh’s participation in this initiative.
If you are interested in getting involved in Camogie in Leitrim or if you are interested in joining one of these teams you can contact the clubs directly or contact Leitrim’s Regional Development Officer on the details below.
