Three Dublin clubs will host an Intercultural day this coming week. The initiatives are in response to the Camogie Association’s National Development Plan æOur Game, Our Passion.’
Lucan Sarsfields, Good Counsel and Kevins Camogie Clubs in Dublin will host an Intercultural open day in their club grounds in order to expand playing opportunities amongst ethnic minorities and young people in socio economically disadvantaged areas.
Last year the Camogie Association brought over 300 families to Croke Park for the All Ireland Camogie Finals to experience the game of camogie by linking in with the Integration Centre and New Communities Partnership. Each club will link in with local groups in their area to attract new girls and give them a taste of our wonderful game. The dates for each venue are as follows:
LUCAN SARSFIELDS – TUESDAY 7TH JUNE 2011
Lucan Sarsfields GAA club operates in a socially diverse urban landscape. Adamstown forms part of the club’s catchment area and has three new primary schools and a secondary school with multi-ethnic populations.
Lucan Sarsfields has invited the Adamstown primary school girls to the inter-cultural event as part of an initiative to open their doors to new communities in the locality.
This inter-cultural day is part of a continuous stream of camogie initiatives from this progressive and inclusive club and from dedicated teachers and GPOs in the Adamstown schools. Lucan and Adamstown will reap massive community, cultural and camogie benefits in the years ahead. Camogie is now starting to make serious inroads in urban areas where the game is more popular than ever. Lucan Sarsfields will leave no stone unturned in remaining at the forefront of that effort.

GOOD COUNSEL – SATURDAY 11TH JUNE 2011
Good Counsel Camogie Club will host an Intercultural æCamogie Try It Day’ on Saturday 11th June in their grounds on Davitt Road in Drimnagh. The event is aimed at girls representing all corners of the globe and the club has been actively involved in promoting Camogie to girls from the new communities in the locality. Currently the club has girls representing seven different nationalities and they would like to further extend this.
The event will take place from 2-4pm and will include camogie taster session for new-comers along with family filled events like face-painting, music and different ethnic foods. Good Counsel is very accessible as the Red Luas line stops immediately at the door on the Suir Bridge stop. Good luck to all at Good Counsel in what sounds like a fun action packed day.

KEVINS HURLING AND CAMOGIE CLUB – SUNDAY 12TH JUNE
Kevin’s Hurling and Camogie Club (CBC) is hosting a Camogie “”Try it”” Intercultural day. The event is being held in Dolphin Park on Sunday the 12th of June from 12pm to 3pm, welcoming girls aged 7 to 12 years of age from all nationalities. The day will involve fun, games, coaching tips, a visit from players of the Dublin hurling and camogie teams, matches and more. St Kevins club are located at the heart of the City and provide camogie for girls of all ages so come along to Dolphin Park and learn a new game for girls.
