U 14’s Camogie Championship Semi Final
Donaghmore / Ashbourne V’s Dunderry
Final Score Don /Ash 2 – 1 Dunderry 0 – 0 Half Time Score: Don Ash 1 – 1 Dunderry 0 – 0
It took 10 minutes for both sides to settle nerves and to get into momentum but once they got into gear this was an exceptional match to watch. The Donaghmore Ashbourne goalkeeper had little to do in the first half due the great defending of the rigid full back line. Sarah O Connor in the half back line caused headaches for the Dunderry girls with numerous blistering solo runs down the wings. This allowed balls to be fed into mid-field and forwards and Maggie capitalised on this possession by scoring 1-1.
In the second half Dunderry were forced to make some positional changes and in the first couple of minutes pressure was put on the Donaghmore Ashbourne back line. Shelby Leahy and Maggie Randle controlled the efforts of Dunderry’s Aoife Minogue to bring Dunderry back into the game. The Donaghmore Ashbourne girls raised the bar again and their work rate paid off when Shelby Leahy sent in a lovely cross which was struck by Aisling Doyle for a fantastic goal.
Donaghmore/Ashbourne :
Rebecca Wilson, Cathy Giblin, Sinead Power, Ellen Curley, Shelby Leahy, Emily Perman, Sarah O’Connor, Maggie Randle, Katie Byrne, Eimear Murray, Noah Brophy, Debbie Coughlan, Niamh Crowther, Emma Flynn, Aisling Doyle, Holly O’Donnell and Lauren Battersby.
