We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the PR-Óg Programme 2025! This dynamic initiative is aimed at young adults aged 16 and over who are passionate about public relations, with a particular focus on social media and digital communications.
What is the PR-Óg Programme?
The PR-Óg Programme offers a unique opportunity for young people to develop key skills in public relations and digital content creation, while also supporting your club or county in promoting the sport we all love and contributing to promoting the Camogie Association at a grassroots level. As a participant, you will be involved in a variety of engaging modules, including:
- Social Media Management
- Canva & Graphic Design
- Conducting Interviews
- New for 2025: Podcast Creation!
- Match Reports & Analysis
- Match Programmes
Participants will need to attend online training workshops and complete a range of tasks that will contribute directly to their local club or county’s Public Relations Officer (PRO). This hands-on experience will give you a chance to support your club’s PRO by producing posters, writing match reports, creating social media content, and much more.
PR-Óg Programme Schedule (2025)
The 2025 PR-Óg Programme will consist of a series of online workshops ending with an in-person graduation day. Here’s the schedule of training modules:
- Mon 13th January 2025 – Introduction to the PR-Óg Programme
- Wed 15th January 2025 – Module 1: Social Media
- Wed 29th January 2025 – Module 2: Canva & Video Editing
- Wed 12th February 2025 – Module 3: Conducting an Interview
- Wed 26th February 2025 – Module 4: Podcast Creation
- Wed 12th March 2025 – Module 5: Match Reports & Analysis
- Wed 26th March 2025 – Module 6: Match Programmes
- April 2025 – In-person Graduation Day
Why Should Your Club Participate?
For the PR-Óg programme to be successful, it requires full support from your club or county’s PRO. The role of the PRO is essential in promoting the Camogie Association, keeping the community informed, and using social media platforms to engage with fans and players.
PR-Ógs are invaluable in helping the PRO with their day-to-day responsibilities, including:
- Managing social media content and posting updates about fixtures, results, and events.
- Designing and distributing promotional materials such as posters and match programmes.
- Reporting on matches and producing engaging content that showcases the Camogie community.
By involving young people in these processes, clubs and counties can boost their visibility, while participants gain practical experience and learn valuable PR skills that will serve them well in the future.
Exciting Opportunity to Learn from Industry Experts
As part of the PR-Óg Programme 2025, participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from experienced professionals in the field. Guest Speakers will be sharing their expertise and insights, providing valuable advice on how to succeed in sports journalism and media roles. This is a rare chance to gain practical knowledge from some of the most respected figures in the Irish sports media world!
The Role of a PR-Óg
As a PR-Óg, your role will primarily involve assisting the PRO with a variety of tasks. The demands of social media in the modern sporting world are significant, and the PR-Óg plays a vital role in helping to maintain an active online presence. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the PRO in fulfilling their duties
- Assisting with social media content creation, including posts, images, and videos
- Helping with the production of match reports and other promotional materials
- Contributing to the overall promotion of the Camogie Association at the local and national levels
By taking on this role, you’ll help increase the visibility of Camogie and ensure that the community stays up to date with important fixtures, team news, results, and other relevant information.
