Sarah Carey (LIT and Limerick)
LIT Fr. Meachair Cup Semi-Final
A daughter of Limerick great Ciarán Carey, she is renowned for having a similar attacking style to her father from centre-back. She also possesses the toughness that might belie a slim build, with former Limerick camogie manager, Joe Quaid describing someone on the receiving end of a challenge as “being Carey-ed”.
Carey has captained Granagh/Ballingarry to county championship success and is normally prominent when they do well.
The same applied for Limerick as they won the All-Ireland intermediate championship in 2014. She has been comfortable at senior level and in Division 1 of the League, where Limerick have operated the last two seasons.
While most of the focus is placed inevitably on the Ashbourne Cup, Carey is just a sample of the stellar quality on display in the Purcell and Fr. Meachair Cups.
