National League champions Wexford showed no mercy to Limerick in Hospital GAA grounds today (Sunday) as Rose Marie Breen fired a hat trick of goals against a youthful home side in the opening round of the Gala All Ireland senior camogie championship. In front 1-9 to 0-1 at the break they turned the screw after the changeover.

Breen’s opening half major was added to by green flags from Michelle Hearne and Aine Codd, while Kate Kelly and Ursula Jacob were point scores in the 5-20 to 0-6 scoreline.

Elsewhere champions Cork got their campaign off to a flying start defeating Dublin at Pßirc Ui Rinn on a score of 3-21 to 1-7. Cork skipper Amanda O’Regan led the way with the home side’s opening goal to give the Leesiders a 1-15 to 1-1 interval lead. Ciara Lucey proved the Dublin goal mid way through the half.

In the final 30 minutes as the points sailed over Cork stamped their authority on this game with two further green flags from Eimear O’Sullivan and Emer O’Farrell.
