The Camogie Association seeks applications from experienced coaches interested in becoming tutors for the Association’s coach education programme “”Camßn Coach Camogie.””  Qualified tutors will deliver “”Camßn Get a Grip”” the Association’s Foundation Level course as approved by Coaching Ireland.

 Increasing the availability of quality and accredited camogie coaching is one of the specific goals of the Association’s National Development Plan 2010-2015. Tutors play an enormously important role in helping to achieve this goal specifically in the design, delivery and review of coach education programmes.

 

We are currently looking for people with knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for coaching Camogie. Please see attached tutor criteria and application form.

 Tutors in the Camogie Association

Role of Tutors
Plan and deliver Coach Education Courses
Observe and evaluate coaches and provide feedback
Help coaches, share, solve and discuss different issues
Identify coaching needs
Evaluate courses
Keep their coaching knowledge up to date

Tutor Criteria

Candidates will be profiled based on the following criteria:
? Holder of a Level One Coach Education Certificate in Camogie/hurling
? Have a significant  understanding of Camogie techniques and principles
? Demonstrate coaching experience in  Camogie/Hurling over an extended period of time
? Possess good communication and presentation skills
? Willing to deliver coaching courses for a minimum of three years post qualification

The Tutor Training Course takes place in Coaching Ireland based in The University of Limerick. The tutor training course comprises of 5 weekends (60 contact hours)

The contact weekends are as follows:
ò February 5th and 6th
ò February 26th and 27th
ò March 26th and 27th,
ò April 16th and 17th
ò May 7th and 8th
ò The course also encompasses structured distance learning tasks and tutor practice.
ò Attend camogie in-service workshops for foundation/  observe  foundation course

The cost to the Association of training a tutor is €1,000. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute 50% of this by December 20th 2010 once your selection as a tutor is confirmed. Once qualified you will be expected to deliver 4 courses within the following 12 months after which you will be reimbursed in full.
