The Camogie Association welcomes today’s announcement of funding from Sport Ireland to our game as part of the Government’s COVID-19 Sport Resilience Fund.
This funding is vital in order to support Camogie Units in what has been an exceptionally challenging year that has presented unprecedented challenges at all levels of the game. The funding will allow the Camogie Association and Camogie Clubs, Counties and Provinces to plan ahead for 2021 and to help ensure that our game continues to grow and develop.
We wish to thank Sport Ireland, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Ministers Catherine Martin TD and Jack Chambers TD for their support for the Camogie Association and the wider sports sector through this funding, and their ongoing assistance throughout the year.
Welcoming this announcement Uachtarán an Cumann Camógaíochta Kathleen Woods added: “I wish to acknowledge the incredible work undertaken by our members and Units throughout this most challenging year to ensure that our game has continued to take place, whilst always ensuring that the health and safety of our players and members has been prioritised at all times.
“Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for their patience, diligence and enthusiasm which they have shown over the past year to have responded so positively to all of the challenges which they have faced.”
The Camogie Association will work with Units over the coming weeks to finalise the distribution of this funding, considering applications submitted over recent months.
