On Friday 8th April, Carlow Institute of Technology played host to the Camogie Associations Sport agus Spraoi Day.

This Day began at 10am where 5 Secondary Schools throughout Carlow including St Leo’s, Carlow Vocational, Borris Vocational, Vocational Bagenalstown and Presentation De La Salle Mhuinebheag all turned out in big numbers to enjoy the glorious sunshine in Carlow IT.

This was a Coaching and Games day for all schools in the Carlow area, there were a total of 85 girls present and on the day they were all coached by the First Year GAA Students from the Carlow Institute of Technology.

The day consisted of Camogie Coaching, Conditioned Games and Match Play, where schools not only got to play against other Carlow schools but were also mixed up alongside other schools to ensure the fun factor.

Thank You to all the staff at Carlow IT in particular Donal McNally & Michael Dempsey who made this day a complete success by both including the GAA Carlow IT students in this initiative and also by opening up their facilities to Camogie on the Day.

Well Done & Thank You to the 30 First Year GAA College Students who gave there time to coach and co-ordinate this Fun Camogie Coaching Day.

And finally, thank you to all the Teachers from each of the participating schools that took time out of their busy schedules to bring along the girls to Carlow IT.

I hope to follow on from this initiative by offering more coaching within the Carlow Secondary Schools in September 2011.
