 The 2020 Camogie All-Stars teams will be announced at the 17th annual Camogie All-Stars Awards sponsored by Liberty Insurance, which will be held as a virtual event on Saturday March 6th.

Denise Gaule and Anne Dalton both described it as surreal, and though they were most likely were talking about celebrating among themselves, without family, friends and supporters, you wondered if the scars of so many Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Championship Final defeats had caused them to wonder if they would ever get over the line again. 

Beforehand, talk of the impact of three consecutive Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Championship Final losses, the five reverses in seven seasons, and for many of the players, six in seven appearances on the biggest stage, was batted away. 

A 57th minute penalty goal by Denise Gaule sealed a deserved victory for Kilkenny to lay the ghosts of previous Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Final defeats firmly in the past.

Galway and Kilkenny will battle it out for the O’Duffy Cup under the lights of Croke Park this Saturday evening in the 2020 Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Championships Final.

When Tara Kenny walks out of the dressing room, jogs from the tunnel and sprints out onto the grass of Croke Park tonight, there may just be a temptation to smile and exhale a little sigh of relief, before resuming focus on what unfolds within the white lines and her job in nullifying the threat of the Kilkenny attack.

The sirens wailing on the other end of the line as Collette Dormer navigates her way through Waterford city traffic to find a spot to pull in and chat, are mercifully neither to lock her away nor provide urgent medical assistance.
