Camogie Association launches County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards
The Camogie Association has launched a County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards to acknowledge the tremendous work carried out by volunteers within the Association.
The County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards scheme invites clubs nationwide to nominate a person who has played an integral role in the development of camogie.
This year’s County æVolunteer of the Year’ recipients will be honoured at a gala lunch on All Ireland Club Finals Day, March 11th 2012.
Today’s announcement coincides with the æNational Day of Volunteering’ which highlights the important roles that volunteers play in organisations nationwide.
Speaking about the County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards Camogie President Joan O’Flynn:
“”Volunteers are the bedrock of the Association and play an integral role in promoting and developing the game of camogie, from local to national level. The County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards will pay recognition to people who have contributed enormously to the game of camogie within their respective club and county.
It is particularly fitting that we also launch this on the æNational Day of Volunteering’. Research carried out shows that what most people want, when they volunteer, is to be accepted æas a valuable team member’. The Camogie Association County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards is an exciting new initiative and we hope that it will serve to elevate even higher, the great role that volunteers play in the Association.””
Nominations for the County æVolunteer of the Year’ Awards can be submitted by club units to their respective county boards, who will adjudicate on applications and select a County æVolunteer of the Year’. Individuals can be nominated for consideration under the following categories: games development and promotion; administration; facilities management; club support.
Applications forms and further information are available by logging onto www.camogie.ie or by contacting the relevant County Camogie Board Secretary from Wednesday, October 5th.
