Eight clubs remained from the original eighteen that battled it out for a place in the Cork Feile Na NGael division 1 quarter finals which take place this week on Wed evening.

Holders Cork Feile champions Milford finished as runners up in their sections as  a strong Valley Rovers side topped the group with victories over champions Milford  Eire Og  St Vincent’s and Ballinhassig .

In Coachford, Douglas held the upper hand as they topped their group with victories over Brian Dillon’s Blackrock and Cloughduv.  The runners up spot going to Cloughduv who showed plenty of skill with good displays over Blackrock and Brian Dillon’s to advance to the quarter final.

Section C was held in Ballyanley and it was topped by Courcey Rovers who came into the competition as late

ments for Killeagh who withdrew after the draws were made. Last years defeated semi finalists Courcey edged out Inniscarra in a close game before going on to defeat Buttevant and Newtownshandrum. Newtown taking the runners up spot as they qualified with victories over Sliabh Rua Inniscarra and Buttevant.

Last years defeated Cork finalists Glen Rovers topped their section out in Ballincollig with victories over the host club Ballincollig, Carrigaline and St Finbarrs. In a close game to decide who would emerge as runners up it was Carrigaline who grabbed the spot with a goal to spare over Ballincollig in a close contest.

In division two Mallow were far superior as they booked confidently booked their place in the semi finals with compherehensive victories over Sarsfields and Castleyons where Castleyons went through as runners up.

It couldn’t have been closer in the second section in division 2 Na Piarsaigh and Clonakilty going through on scoring difference
