A come & try it Day took place on Friday the 9th May in Tralee IT for all Kerry primary schools. Coaching was provided by the Institute of Technology Tralee students. Thanks to coaches Mikey Kiely, Fergal Collins, Kate Harrington, Rachel Sinott, Gearoid O Doherty, Damien Ryan and Anthony Feally for their excellent coaching at the day. 142 girls from 9 schools attended. Schools included Ardfert NS, Kilmoyley NS, Abbeydroney NS, Slaimhandra NS, Glenderry Ns, Spa NS, Causeway NS and Tralee Educate Together.

O’Duffy Cup visits Sligo
The O’Duffy Cup visited Sligo this week at a Cumann na mBunscol primary school blitz day in Geevagh on Tuesday the 13th May. 130 girls participated on the day. Mary O Connor attended and also Bernie Ryan National Cumann na mBunscol chairperson. Thanks to John Hughes principal of Geevagh National school for a well organised day.

You & Me Play Camogie Programme
This programme is underway in 3 of the 8 clubs randomly chosen for inclusion in the progamme funded by the Thank you Fund from Coca Cola. Oran club in Roscommon has started their 6 weeks with Tutor Richard McNicholas. The programme is also running in Drumgoon Cavan with Eoin Morrissey as tutor and 12 participants on the first night. Donard Glen Programme starts in Wicklow on 14th May with Mark Mc Manus from Dublin tutoring on this programme. Five other clubs received funding under this fund and will be starting in the coming weeks. The programme also provides a nutritional talk to parents and players over the 6 weeks.

Hurl Smart Week- 2nd -8th June
The Camogie Association in conjunction with the Nutrition and Health Foundation are running their annual Hurl Smart Week form the 2nd-8th June.
 
Run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’ in your club and be in with the chance to bring your club camogie under 12 team to Croke Park in October!
Just register your clubs interest, run a ‘Hurl Smart Week’, submit a report of events and you could be in with a chance to play in Croke Park.
 
Feile Skills Galway
Teegan Canning Mullagh won the Galway Feile skills competition and will be representing Galway in Ulster in June. Leah Burke (Kiltulla/killimordaly) and Muireann Faherty (Ballinderreen) came second and third respectively.

Lenovo Skills Hub
This Gaelic games initiative sponsored by Lenovo is a mixed camp for teenage boys and girls aged 13-15 years. Top inter county players will coach on the Lenovo skills hub for the 4 days. The hurling/camogie camps take place in Carlow, Dublin, Offaly, Clare, Waterford, Cork, Limerick Wexford and Tipperary. Details below of locations and female camogie player involved in camp.

Second Level Blitzes-Galway & Mayo
The Mairead Meehan 1st year tournament organised by presentation secondary school Athenry took place this week in Galway with a 1st year seven a side tournament.

Michael and Ann Meehan alongside Mr. Cathal Moore, Deputy Principal of Presentation College Athenry.
 
 
Calascantius Oranmore captains receive the Mairead Meehan B cup from
Michael and Ann Meehan alongside Mr. Cathal Moore, Deputy Principal of Presentation College Athenry.
 
A second level blitz took place in Castlebar on 14th May. Davitt College, Sacred Heart secondary school, St.Josephs Castlebar and Gortnor Abbey attended on the day. 70 girls from the 4 schools  took part in the competition for 1st and 2nd years.

Ø      Athlone Institute of Technology Camogie Academy taking place next Wednesday the 14th May in Athlone IT. This is a 6 week programme for local schools and will run from 6.30pm-7.30pm each Wednesday. Contact lfynn@camogie.ie for more information
