Over 35 players took part in a camogie coaching workshop in Zurick on Saturday at the second round of the 2014 European Hurling and Camogie Championship. Ger Gribben Camogie RDO was the tutor for the course. In attendance were teams from Belgium and Zurich. In addition there were two sports journalists from Lugano, Switzerland and a couple of beginners from Dresden, Germany participating. The Zurich, Belgium, Dresden and Munich hurlers were also encouraged to take part as many non- Irish and beginner hurlers were present on the day.

3rd Annual ‘Hurl Smart’ week goes nationwide with over 50 camogie clubs taking part
The Camogie Association in conjunction with the Nutrition and Health Foundation are running their annual Hurl Smart Week form the 2nd-8th June.
Hurl Smart Week aims to increase activity levels of all ages, male and female by providing a programme of events in a local camogie club. Over 50 clubs nationwide are signed up to take part in the week.
 
Clubs will run a number of events with the aim of getting everyone active through camogie/hurling activities such as relay races, obstacle courses, wall ball challenges, target practice challenges, nutritional talks etc.

Camán to Connacht- celebrating 110 years of Camogie
To celebrate 110 years of Camogie there will a blitz day for under 12 clubs in each province. The aim is to obtain a large stadium to run these events in each province in celebration of camogie’s birthday.
The first of these days is on Monday 2nd June in Pearse Stadium for Connacht clubs. 27 teams have registered to play on the day. The O Duffy cup with Galway players will be present on the day also,
Details of other provincial dates will be sent to clubs in relevant provinces over the summer.
 
 
 
Armagh primary school Blitzes huge success
A number if primary school blitzes took place in Armagh to cover north, mid and south Armagh schools. The blitzes took place in Silverbridge, Lurgan and Sherry’s field with over 200 girls taking part in total from 14 schools in the county.

Midleton Camogie Come & Try It Day
A Come & Try It Day was held in Munster’s newest club Midleton on saturday May 24th with over 70 girls from 6-12 turning up to participate in the clubs launch day. During the day coaching sessions were carried out by Cork minor camogie manager John Middleton, Cork senior star Orla Cotter, a number of this year’s Cork minor camogie team and Ross Corbett Munster RDO.

The Naomh Bríd Brocagh Camogie club, Tyrone completed the 'Hurl With Me' programme on the 20th May which was tutored by Camogie RDO Ger Gribben. 32 parents and 36 girls in total participated in the programme.

In other Tyrone news the Cumann na mBunscol Primary Schools Outdoor Camogie Blitz was held in Primate Dixon Primary School with 90 girls from 9 schools taking part in the day. Lisa McAliskey (Camogie RDO) and Geraldine Christie (Active Community Coach) helped out on the day.

U12 festival of Camogie
A festival of camogie for under 12 teams in Offaly will take place in St.Rynagh’s GAA pitch in Banagher on Saturday 7th June. 13 teams have signed up for the festival to date. For more information contact: lflynn@camogie.ie
 
Coaching Workshops
Yvonne Byrne RDO for Connacht completed a workshop for parents and new coaches in Westoport Mayo. There were 20 at the workshop.
This group have now all signed up the 6 week programme ‘You & Me play Camogie’ that will start in Westport next week.
