This is in line with best practice and “”Children First””, the national guidelines for the protection and welfare of children.
Every club must appoint a suitable Children’s Officer. Every County Board must do likewise.
This Garda Vetting process will be handled in the most confidential manner. Those who undergo this process will complete a Garda Vetting Application form, put it in a sealed envelope marked “”Garda Vetting””  and give it to the Club Children’s Officer. The Club Children’s Officer will forward the batch of completed application forms (unopened) to the County Children’s Officer. This envelope will be forwarded to the County Board Children’s Officer.  The County Children’s Officer will forward to the National Authorised Person, (known as the Authorised signature)
The Authorised Signature will be trained to examine all forms to see that forms are completed correctly. If a form is not completed correctly it will be sent back directly to the individual. All forms that are completed correctly will be forwarded to the Garda Vetting Unit.
Further information will be made available to all clubs and counties in the coming weeks. At this stage it is anticipated that the Garda Vetting process will start in a particular county and progress from there.
