It’s time take a look at the current standings in this exciting Irish Daily Star National League ahead of the weekend’s action.
In Division 1, both Group 1 and Group 2 have matching fixtures as 2nd place teams take on the 3rd place teams and the 4th place teams take on the bottom teams, while both group leaders enjoy a well-earned break. Group 1 sees Wexford host a winless Tipperary in the bottom of the table clash while Offaly take on Galway, with both teams still having a chance to top the table. Group 2 sees a winless Derry side playing host to a similarly winless Clare side with both teams eager to put points on the board. Group 2 also sees the marquee match-up of the weekend as Kilkenny welcome Dublin in what is essentially a semi-final decider.
In Division 2, Group 1 is tightly contested with all six teams having recorded at least one win thus far. Galway play host to Laois in what could be the decider of the semi-final spot, although both teams would still have a chance to go through if Westmeath are able to upset the visiting Kildare side. The bottom of the table clash between Antrim and Wexford is not to be written off as the winner will put themselves in a position to qualify. In Group 2, Waterford and Kilkenny are both on 6 points at the top of the table with three wins from three and will battle it out for the top spot this weekend. In the mid-table clash, Cork travel to Meath where a win for either team can give them an outside chance of qualifying for the semi-final.
In Division 3, Limerick play host to Armagh with both teams looking to get themselves out of the bottom half of the table. Dublin will travel to Carlow, with a chance to jump to the top of the table. However, they will first have to manage a win over the Barrowsiders, who currently hold the top spot.
There’s a great weekend of action ahead, get yourself down to one of the games and follow us Facebook and Twitter for updates and results!!
