The 2010 M.Donnelly sponsored Poc Fada Finals took place in excellent weather conditions at Annaverna Mountain on Sat July 31st.
Waterford teenager Patricia Jackman sucessfully defended her 2009 title against a spirited challenge from Fionnuala Carr (Down) with Louth’s Voureen Quigley coming in third place.
In the men’s decider, a difficult few shots in the dreaded Ravine did not assist the defending champion Gerry Fallon who was eventually beaten to the title by Down`s Graham Clarke. The Ulster man finally added the coveted Poc Fada title to his hurling C.V. Meanwhile, Galway’s Owen Tracey took the Under 16 Boys title.
Trophies were presented by Mary Connor (Louth) representing Cumann Camogaiocht and by Seamus Howlin , Chairman GAA Leinster Council, Bernard Dunne (former WBA Regular Super Bantamweight World Champion and a former European Super Bantamweight champion)represented the Sponsor Martin Donnelly
Poc Fada Committee Chairman Donie Nealon made a special Presentation to Damian Callan (Louth) who as a 13 year old won the Inaugural Poc Fada 50 years ago and who is still involved at Poc Fada Committee level and juvenile coaching .
