Referee Development & Education Co-ordinator
The Camogie Association is recruiting for a Full Time Referee Development and Education Co-Ordinator to join the Association’s staff team. The key purpose of this role is to develop, manage and support initiatives that support clubs to recruit, educate, train and retain referees within the sport.
The successful candidate will be part of the Camogie Associations Development Team, reporting to the Technical Development and Participation Manager, and will responsible for delivering on a workplan aligned to the Camogie Association across its work, providing support to units, volunteers, and officers, and will assist in implementing the Camogie Association’s National Development Plan for 2020-2023 (https://camogie.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Camogie-Association-National-Development-Plan-2020- 23.pdf ) and successor plans to lead and drive a participation, growth and development of Camogie.
The Camogie Association
The Camogie Association is the National Governing Body for the sport of Camogie, and it is responsible for promoting and developing the game, and its governance structures across the Camogie community. The Association is an independent voluntary organisation founded in 1904. The Association is part-funded by Sport Ireland. In addition to Sport Ireland funding, the Association is supported by the GAA, and by revenues generated directly through affiliation fees, gate receipts, and provision of services to units of the Association, as well as income from sponsorship and commercial activities.
In 2018, Camogie (along with Hurling) was added to UNESCO’s list of protected cultural activities around the world. Camogie operates at club, county, provincial and international levels with teams of all ages participating in the sport in recreational and competitive activities. The Association works closely with colleagues in The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), at all levels of sport, administration and governance. The GAA have recently been appointed to act on behalf of the Camogie Association in securing and negotiating sponsorships over the next 3 years.

Essential
- A third level degree in sports, sports management, sports development, or other relevant.
- A minimum of 2-3 years’ professional experience in a similar role.
- Must have the ability to develop good working relationships at multiple levels, contribute to a positive working environment and influence the delivery of objectives with a wide variety of stakeholders including volunteers, colleagues in sport, sponsors.
- Should demonstrate a good understanding of refereeing.
- Experience in referee/coach or sport.
- Experience in development of education modules, resources and excellent administrative and IT.
- Experience in implementation of strategic plans and annual action.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, reporting and experience of project
- Experience of consultative methods, group work and be a dynamic self-starter with a proven ability to work
- Current full clean driving license, insurance, and access to own car.
- The post holder will be required to have a clean full driving license and the appointment will be subject to Garda/PSNI vetting
Desirable criteria
The following will be advantageous to applicants:
- An understanding and experience of the unique environment of volunteer sporting National Governing Bodies, and experience of working with Volunteers.
- Have an interest in the sport and a knowledge of the structures and operations of the Camogie Association and Gaelic games.
- Experience of working in the sports sector, particularly in Gaelic.
- Knowledge and/or experience of adult learning.
- Familiarity with social research method and with designing or undertaking evaluations.
- Ideally the candidate would have a good working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS).

Grade and Salary: €31-36k p.a. (Salary Scale in place) it is anticipated that new entrants will start on first point of scale.
Duration: Permanent (Subject to 9 Month Probation.)
Working hours: Full Time – 5 Day Week, 39 Hour Working week. This role is offered on a 5/7 day contract. This role requires flexibility and will entail out-of-hours working. The key purpose of this role is to develop, manage and support initiatives that support clubs to retain players within the sport, and creating strategies to boost retention at all levels of the association – playing recreationally and competitively, as well as encouraging progression to officiating, coaching, administration etc.
The successful candidate will be part of the Camogie Associations Development Team, reporting to the Technical Development and Participation Manager, and will lead the regional Participation and Growth Co-ordinator team. The Participation and Retention Co-ordinator will be responsible for delivering on a workplan aligned to the Camogie Association across its work, providing support to units, volunteers, and officers, and will assist in implementing the Camogie Association’s National Development Plan for 2020-2023 (https://camogie.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Camogie-Association-National-Development-Plan-2020-23.pdf) and successor plans to lead and drive a participation, growth and development of Camogie.
