Camogie Association Uachtarán Catherine Neary extends condolences on behalf of the Association to the family of Iar Uachtarán an Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Joe McDonagh RIP
Catherine Neary said:
"Joe was a wonderful and charismatic supporter and friend to Camogie at home and internationally.
This was particularly so during his Presidential tenure in 1997-2000, during his tenure as CEO of Foras na Gaeilge and later in 2009-2012 as Chairperson of the GAA's International Committee.
As GAA President, Joe led in acknowledging the contribution of women to gaelic games.
He was to the forefront in advocating greater integration between the Gaelic Games' Associations and was always inclusive in his approach and work with Camogie.
Later, under Joe’s leadership and support, Foras na Gaeilge were valued partners in the sponsorship of the All Ireland Senior Camogie championships for several years, including 2004, the Centenary of the Camogie Association.
Joe will be sadly and widely missed.
On behalf of his friends in Camogie, I offer my sympathies to his wife Peig, his family, and his many friends throughout gaelic games.
Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam"
