It is fair to say, that the Kingdom is under-going a camogie revolution right now. Following the success of their Minor C team on reaching the All Ireland C final earlier this year, Kerry Camogie Board have followed this up by fielding the county’s first ever adult team in inter-county championship in over thirty years.

Last Sunday, the Kerry Junior B team togged out in the All Ireland B Junior Championship in association with RTÉ Sport and took on a talented Wicklow side at Causeway. They went on to record a memorable victory on a score line of 3-11 to 2-5. Next up for Kerry is an away trip to Cill Dara at St Laurences with a throw in time of 2.30pm on Sunday, July 8th.

Also, if you want to follow the progress of the Kerry Junior B team then tune into the Radio 1 John Murray Show ‘Underdogs 2012’.

Sports journalist Damien Lawlor is following the team as part of an annual series, whereby he chooses two teams to follow as part of each championship. There will be updates each Monday after matches including live radio interviews with team and management while pod casts are also available to download direct from the John Murray show.

It has been thirty years since a team from Kerry last competed at adult inter-county level and last Sunday’s debut was a major boost for the revival of camogie in the county. Kerry Camogie PRO Fiona Casey, paid tribute to the O’Neills Sports and Lee Strand, Tralee for their support of the team.
