On Saturday 23rd February Kilkenny club Kilmacow hosted the first of 3 coaching courses in the county. 17 coaches were trained up on the day by our tutor Donal Ryan. Well done to all who attended and the club itself for hosting. Kilkenny will run another course on 30th March and 13th April.

Goalkeeping Workshop
On Saturday 23rd February, Westmeath Camogie ran a very successful Goalkeeping workshop in Raharney GAA Club with David Herity. 21 goalkeepers from across the county from 11 years to adult took part in the 2-hour practical workshop with a group and age related sessions carried out. 5 coaches from the clubs of Westmeath also attended and we hope to see the players and coaches carry the skills, tips and drills back to their clubs. Well done to all who attended and the club itself for hosting.
Referee Development
On Friday 15th February in the IFA Centre, Enniscorthy, over 30 referees attended a Referee Conversion course under the delivery of Cathal Egan, national referee. A very worthwhile evening where the GAA and current camogie referees got a refresher on the rule changes implemented in 2019. Wexford will run a First Whistle course for young and new referees in the coming weeks, so all clubs who wish to have a referee trained up for underage Go Games refereeing should contact the county development officer.
Westmeath run their Foundation Referee course this Thursday 28th February in the Greville Arms, Mullingar at 7pm while Wicklow will run their First Whistle course on the 27th March in Ballinakill, any young referees interested should contact the county development officer through their club secretary. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved and trained up before the Go Games season kicks off.
Keep an Eye for: Leinster Junior Novice Secondary School Development Blitz
As secondary schools return from their mid-term break this week, I ask all teachers/coaches in the schools who do not currently compete in Leinster Post Primary competition to keep an eye out for this years’ Development Initiative that may be of interest to your school. An invite email and letter will be sent to all eligible schools in the next 2 weeks, inviting them to take part in this 1st-3rd year blitz initiative this April. Whether your school is just starting camogie for the first time or if trying to build on last year’s great work, I would encourage you all to consider coming along. Contact sabrina.larkin@camogie.ie for more info.
