Magnificent Mallow!

Mallow was a buzz of excitement last Saturday April 1st.  The superb facilities in Cork hosted 48 teams from 46 clubs all over Munster in the annual under 12 Camán to Munster event this year.  In total 20 of these clubs will get to participate in the National Caman to Croker Day on Easter Monday April 17th in Croke Park.  The draw has been done and all 64 clubs from around the country are getting prepared for what is sure to be the biggest highlight of their short camogie careers to date!! Bring your club banners, make lots of noise and enjoy the experience! We look forward to seeing all our budding stars on Easter Monday.

Westport Winners of Cumann na mBunscol Final

The Gaelscoil Westport and Aghamore national school contested the Camogie INTO Mayo Cumann na mBunscol final in the Connacht Centre of Excellence on Friday March 31st 2017.

Gaelscoil Westport were quick to get on the scoreboard with a goal in the first minute courtesy of Lúsaí Ni Chorcoráin. Five minutes later Leíla Ní Mháille added a second goal for the Gaelscoil.
Saoirse Delaney from Aghamore brought her side back into the final with a goal on the 11th minute but the Gaelscoil responded well with Leíla Ní Mháille immediately pulling a goal back as the whistle went for half time leaving the Gaelscoil leading 3 goals to 1.

The second half was dominated again by the Gaelscoil despite the best efforts of Saoirse Delaney and Niamh Mooney for Aghamore. Fionnuala Nic Lochlainn who was brilliant throughout added two fantastic points for the Gaelscoil one from play and one from a 45. Two more goals from first half scorers  Leíla Ní Mháille and Lúsaí Ni Chorcoráin in the second half put the game beyond Aghamore’s reach. Aghamore through Saoirse Delaney did manage to get a late consolation goal but it made no difference as the Gaelscoil ran out worthy winners on a score line of 5:2 to 2:0.
