The Inaugural Junior Club Tournament in association with the Imperial Hotel Tralee took place last Saturday Oct 22nd in Tralee.
The two new Kerry adult clubs, Clanmaurice and Lixnaw participated in their first competitive outings as they played each other and visiting Limerick club Kileedy.
Despite a last minute pitch switch to Caherslee Training Grounds, due to Austin Stack Park becoming waterlogged overnight, the three teams played out their games in horrendous conditions with Clanmaurice and Kileedy reaching the final.
Clanmaurice won their first piece of silverware on a scoreline of 3-6 to 1-0.
Great celebrations took place in the Imperial Hotel later that evening as Kerry legend Darragh O’Se presented CLanmaurice captain Una Flynn with the cup, which along with the evenings entertainment was kindly sponsored by Olive Sheehan from the Sheehan Hotel Group.
Kerry PRO Fiona Casey experessed her thanks to the teams for travelling, to everyone involved in the organising of the event, and to the GAA Co.Board for the use of their facilities throughout the season.
It is hoped to make this an annual event with April next year as a possible timeframe. County boards will be furinshed with details in January so Junior clubs can start to plan a trip to Tralee!
