AIT are offering a Level 6 single subject module FETAC award of æCertificate in Sports Administration’, for volunteer members of An Cumann Cam¾gaÝochta in order to assist in the achievement of the organisation’s goals and assist volunteer members perform their responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. The programme is designed to develop awareness of the necessary skills involved in organisation and administration of an association or club.

 

 

 

 

Aim of Programme

The aim of this module is to introduce the participants to the principles and practice of administering a sports club, with particular reference to facilitating the development of An Cumann Camoigiochta

 

 

 

 

 

Programme Syllabus will include:

– Introduction to Leadership / Management which includes

  • Introduction to Management
  • Development of Management/ Leadership/ Motivation Capacity
  • Management Functions including planning, organizing, communicating etc
  • Event Management
  • Planning and Measurement of Performance
  • Developing the Organisation

– Introduction to Financial Management

– Introduction to Exercise and Fitness Management

– Introduction to Ethics and Legal Issues in Sports Administration

– Introduction to Training and Methods of Instruction Skills

The programme will be delivered over ten evenings commencing on Wednesday 6 October 2010 and continue until mid January 2011. Appropriate breaks will be taken during Autumn mid term and Christmas. Lectures from 7pm – 10 pm will take place on campus in Athlone Institute of Technology, and some blended learning will be delivered through IT systems, thereby providing appropriate student access to library and on campus facilities. Group presentations and assessments will take place on Saturday, 15 January
