We begin our preview for the Camogie All-Stars Awards 2016 sponsored by Liberty Insurance by looking at the nominees for the Goalkeeper position on the 2016 Senior Camogie All-Stars team:
Aoife Murray (Cork)
The ever-present Rebel County goalkeeper is in the running for a 5th All-Stars award in a career dominated by trophies as she has picked up 7 All-Ireland Senior Championships, 5 National League titles and numerous other titles including the 2016 Poc Fada title.
At club level Murray represents Cloughduv while also working as a Senior Real Estate Asset Manager. Murray is also an ambassador for the Camogie Association’s official charity partner ChildFund Ireland and recently visited Ethiopia earlier this year as part of their Dreambikes campaign.
Emma Kavanagh (Kilkenny)
Kavanagh was the a rock in the Kilkenny goal as she produced impressive performances throughout the Championship to bring home the O’Duffy Cup after a 22 year wait for the Cats. In addition to her maiden All-Ireland Senior Championship, she is in contention for her first All-Stars award.
A teacher by profession, the Rower-Inistioge representative has 2 National League titles along with multiple County titles.
Mags D’Arcy (Wexford)
D'Arcy has a locker full of awards that date back to 2003 when she first arrived on the Senior team. 4 All-Irelands and 3 National League titles prove why D’Arcy is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of her generation.
The St. Martin's keeper’s schedule has been packed busy, with Wexford reaching the All-Ireland Semi-Finals and recntly travelling to Ethiopa as a ChildFund Ireland ambassador, she is up for her third All-Stars award.
The 13th annual All-Stars Awards banquet sponsored by Liberty Insurance will take place in Citywest Hotel on Saturday November 5th. Tickets are priced at €75 per head.
