PURCELL CUP UPDATE
Last week Round 1 of the Purcell Preliminary games took place with wins for both Trinity College and NUI Maynooth.Trinity had 3 points to spare against a determined Limerick Institute of Technology. Despite outscoring LIT 11 scores to 4, 2 goals for the Limerick side meant there was only 3 points between the sides with Trinity emerging on top 11 points to LIT’s 2-2. The second game was a one-sided affair with NUI Maynooth proving to be too strong for the best efforts of IT Carlow winning easily 3-10 to no score. Maynooth and Trinity will now play each other this week boosted by their round 1 victories.
All Round 2 of the Preliminary games takes place this week (Jan 30th) with the following teams in action.
Mary I v Sligo IT
QUB v ST Pats
IT Tralee v Dundalk
DIT v St Marys
TCD v NUIM
The quarter-finals of the Purcell Cup are fixed for February 6th.
