PwC make three major sponsorship announcements
PwC Ireland, along with The Camogie Association, are delighted to announce that PwC will become the title sponsor of the PwC Camogie All-Stars for three years to 2024, strengthening the firm’s support of Irish sport and, in particular, reinforcing their commitment to increasing the profile and participation of women in sport. In addition, along with the GAA and the GPA, PwC is announcing their renewal of the PwC All-Stars and PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month for a further three years.
This wider sponsorship deal encompasses The PwC All-Star Awards and The PwC Camogie All-Star Awards, both celebrated annually at gala banquets in October and November. It also involves the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month and PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month Awards annually recognising outstanding individual performances in camogie, hurling and men’s and women’s football throughout the championships.
Speaking at the announcement, Feargal O’Rourke, Managing Partner, PwC Ireland, said: “We are delighted to announce our continued support of Gaelic games and are particularly proud to be embarking on this exciting new title sponsorship with The Camogie Association.
“In 2021 we sponsored the GPA Women’s Player of the Month Awards which, for the first time, resulted in the women’s Gaelic codes being recognised and awarded equally to their male counterparts. The PwC Camogie All-Stars further elevates our support for women in sport.
“At PwC, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of who we are. It’s not just something we talk about, it’s integral to how we work, do business and live our values. We know that when people from different backgrounds with different points of view come together, they create the greatest value for business, our clients and society. We are committed to empowering all of our people and our clients to reach their full potential. Developing and recognising excellence in talent is paramount to the future success of all of our communities.”
Uachtarán an Cumann Camógaíochta Hilda Breslin added: “The Camogie Association are delighted to announce this partnership with PwC which will ensure that the annual Camogie All-Star Awards continue to recognise the achievements of our camogie players, through the All-Stars and Soaring Stars Awards.
“The Camogie All-Stars are a key feature of our annual calendar, enabling us to showcase and recognise the talents and skills of our Inter County players from across the island of Ireland, at all levels.”
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthcleas Gael Larry McCarthy added: “The All-Stars hold an iconic place in Irish sport. These prestigious awards have stood the test of time as the foremost individual accolade in Gaelic games, and since 1971 have been a byword for those players who stood out in a given season through their excellence and inspiration.
“The list of winners is a who’s who of the outstanding GAA players of the last 50 years and I am delighted that our successful partnership with PwC will continue and enhance this great institution in the GAA calendar. I also congratulate them on their support for the Camogie All-Stars and have no doubt that An Cumann Camogaíochta will reap similar rewards from their involvement with PwC.”
GPA, Chief Executive Tom Parsons said: “PwC has been a hugely supportive ally for players over a long number of years and we are delighted to see this partnership extended and expanded. It is very positive for our members to have a friend of their calibre working alongside us.
“PwC’s continued sponsorship of the PwC All-Stars and PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month awards is both very welcome and highly valued by players. It is also great to see PwC continue to lead by example when it comes to support for female sport with its new sponsorship of the PwC Camogie All-Stars.
“While our games will always be primarily about the collective team effort, it is only right to highlight and reward individual excellence, particularly when the recognition comes from your peers. These awards are the ultimate individual accolades across football, hurling and camogie.
“A big thank you to Feargal O’Rourke and all the PwC team who work so hard to celebrate the inter-county game and its players.”
