The Leinster Hurl With Me Coordinator Training has been rescheduled to Sunday, 27th of April 11am in Cuala.
Electric Ireland Hurl With Me is a fantastic initiative for clubs to get involved in. It is inclusive programme with plenty of fun, providing an opportunity for clubs to encourage engagement from adults in their club.
What does the day involve?
-
The club mentor receives this practical hurl with me training in the central venue, to be able to come back to the club to get underage teams and their parents/family members to learn the basic skills of camogie. Main aim is to get more female adults involved in camogie.
-
This coordinator training is a half day practical session, approximately 3 hours learning the basics of camogie, suitable for any male or female coach that can deliver sessions back to their underage team and parents.
-
The coordinator should then deliver their learning back within the club. Clubs can send as many coaches as they wish.
Why should clubs nominate someone to do this training?
-
Coordinator receives an insight into tutoring and how to coach the hurl with back in the club, and confidence in delivering the Hurl With Me Sessions directly in their own club.
-
Coordinator learns how delivers the hurl with me programme in the club to try recruit more adults into camogie
-
Beneficial for any coach to receive this coaching training, to bring back to their club. Will benefit the clubs development and hopefully a tool to recruit more parents into coaching by doing these sessions back in the club.
Benefits of the coordinator delivering the hurl with me sessions back in your club:
-
Following this coordinator training, the mentor will go back to their club and deliver the Hurl With Me 4-6 Week programme in their club. This will benefit the underage players as the coordinator will receive some practical drills, skills, and then the parents will get involved learning the skills.
-
Encourages club members to get involved in the programme, to learn some basics of Camogie, can encourage networking amongst parents of underage teams – learning the skills together
-
The programme provides clubs an opportunity to be able to upskill female adults to get involved with their club by taking part in the Hurl With Me.
-
An opportunity to encourage adults to be able to hurl and practice camogie with their daughter learning their skills, with lots of support and fun through the programme.
The aim of this programme for the club trainer to encourage parents and give them the opportunity to learn the basic skills of the game in a fun and supportive environment. By these female role models getting involved in the programme we believe this should also have an effect of increasing the younger girl’s interest in playing.
By completing this programme, your club will be invited to take part in the Hurl With Be Blitz Days with other clubs that have completed the programme.
For the Longer term, by getting involved in the programme – this may well be the first step in a parent becoming more involved in the club through coaching or an officer role. The Camogie Association endeavours to see more females involved in all aspects of the sport!
