Laois will be competing in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland premier junior camogie championship next year after Dublin’s second string beat them by 1-15 to 1-7 in the intermediate relegation final in Banagher today.

A late goal from impressive substitute, Joye Atkinson gave the scoreline a slightly flattering look but there was no doubt that Dublin were deserving winners, hard though their opponents tried.

Eimear Hassett shot 1-2 for the O’Moores, the goal coming from a first-half penalty after Amy Flanagan was fouled but the Dubs were creating more opportunities and led by 0-9 to 1-4 at half-time

Gráinne Skelton supplied four of those points and Méadhbh Hicks two but notably, the Metropolitans had five scorers in total in that opening period.

Skelton brought her tally to seven in the second half and Hicks and Atkinson also split the posts.

Hassett slotted a pair of 45s but Laois needed goals and instead it was Atkinson that raised the green flag to remove all doubt.
