These two sides met earlier in the group stage and a close match was anticapitated but this never materalised. From the throw in the midfield pairing of Sarah Staunton and Clodagh Mc Grath were on top of their game and sent plenty of ball to the forwards.
The New Inn forwards were on top and made very good use of the sliotar. All 6 forwards got on the scoresheet. Playing against the wind they had 2 goals and 8 pts on the scoreboard by half time. With the half back line of Moira Connaugton, Tara Kenny and Catherine Kelly on top there was no way back for Holy Rosary Mountbellow in the second half.
Mountbellew tried hard and Elaine Donnellan, Laura Smith and Aoife Fallon never gave up for Holy Rosary, but on the day more was required to overcome a determined New Inn.
