Speaking about the announcement Camogie Association President Catherine Neary said: “The Players’ Player of the Year Award is a unique and prestigious honour for any player given that this award recognises the esteem in which the winner is held among their peers. This is the third year of the Players’ Player of the Year Award and the Camogie Association is delighted once again in collaboration with both the WGPA and Liberty Insurance to recognises at a national level the immense contribution of our leading players.

“The Players’ Player of the Year Award is an acknowledgement of the achievements of a player across the three adult grades. It is a testament to the impact these players have had, on not just the wider Camogie community, but among their fellow players across all our intercounty teams, as it is their opponents who will vote and in so doing they will acknowledged the significant contribution of each of our award winners during the 2017 Championship season.”

Speaking in advance of the awards Chairperson of the WGPA Aoife Lane said: “The WGPA are delighted to collaborate with the Camogie Association and Liberty Insurance to acknowledge individual excellence from the 2017 Camogie Championship.

“The nominees at Senior, Intermediate and Junior level represent the trailblazers at their grade but each will acknowledge the support and contribution of teammates in their performances this season. To be championed by these fellow players in this Players' Player of the Year initiative is undoubtedly an honour for all involved.

“We wish the Camogie Association and Liberty Insurance the best for their night and welcome the announcement of a trip for the 2016 and 2017 All-Stars recipients. It will be a fantastic occasion for all involved; bon voyage!”

Speaking in advance of the awards Deirdre Ashe, Director of Personal Lines, Liberty Insurance said: “We are delighted to once again sponsor these awards which recognise and celebrate the achievements of this year’s outstanding Camogie players at all levels.

“In addition to our sponsorship of the All-Stars Awards and All-Stars Tour it is important to also recognise these outstanding individual performances in this year’s Championship as acknowledged by their peers, and we are looking forward to what is always an enjoyable and memorable evening on November 4th.”
