A ‘Come & Try it’ Day was held in Sligo IT for girls from National schools in the area. This day was organised by Cumann Cam¾gaÝochta na nGael in conjunction with Cumann na mBunscol Sligo. Nine schools attended with a total number of 140 girls on the day. Schools from Sligo included Kilross, Rathcormack, Ballintogher, Geevagh, Coolooney, Cloonacool, Stokane, Rathlee and Castlerock. The day consisted of skill sessions and blitz games and concentrated on fun and enjoyment and ensured participation by all. Thanks to students from Sligo IT that coached and refereed on the day. Thanks also to Brian McCann, Sligo hurling board secretary for attending. Sligo IT provided excellent facilities for the day and teachers who travelled with the schools attended a short teachers course on the basic skills of Camogie so that they too now feel confident to coach the girls within their schools in the basic skills of the game. Thanks to Cumann na mBunscol teacher representatives John Liddy, John Hughes and Bernadette Ryan for their help in organising such a successful day for the girls of Sligo.
