Sport Ireland is supporting a new initiative for jobseekers with an interest in sport and physical activity called the Community Coaching Programme. This is a national programme and Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) will be rolling out the courses which will be starting in late 2015. The LSPs are working in partnership with NGBs to provide coaching courses to enable enhanced coaching provision in disability, school, community and youth club settings, especially in sports where there are no full-time development officers within the region. The Community Coaching Programme is funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund.
Sport Ireland Community Coaching Programme
Are you interested in sport?
Are you currently unemployed?
The Community Coaching Programme is aimed at people that have an interest in sport who are currently unemployed. Courses are approximately 14 weeks in duration, are part-time (2-3 days a week) and will not affect your unemployment benefit. You will receive several coaching and sport-related qualifications to help you to find employment and coaching opportunities within your local community. Progression routes to further education in sport and related areas will also be identified and support will be given to you if you choose to take this pathway.
The course will:
· Help you to become qualified as a coach, referee, physical activity leader etc
· Improve your job prospects within the sports industry
· Motivate you to pursue the progression routes which have been identified (employment, coaching, volunteering, further education etc)
· Help promote positive mental health through participation in sport; both for you as a participant and for the community in which you are based
