The young Camogie players of Wexford and newly qualified Green CARD referees took to the pitches in St Marys, New Ross last Thursday 5th of November 2009 for Wexford’s CPD (County Participation Day).
Due to a number of reasons only 3 Wexford Secondary Schools were present on the day, namely St Marys New Ross, St Marys CBS and Colaiste Bride but that didn’t hamper the enthusiasm and spirit in which all schools participated.
St Marys New Ross and St Marys CBS both entered two teams each so 5 teams in total took part in the blitz that provided all teams with four games each.
It was particularly heartening to witness the displays of the girls from Colaiste Bride, who for some of the girls was their first time to play Camogie. Their school is currently making great efforts to promote the game of camogie.
Jenny Duffy, a member of Corks All Ireland winning team was on hand to give some expert coaching to the Colaiste Bride girls.
I would like to thank Jenny Duffy (South Leinster RDO) for her help on the day. A huge thank you must also be extended to Damien McDonald and St. Marys secondary school New Ross for their fantastic facilities and help in the organisation of whole initiative.
Well done to all schools who participated on the day and congratulations to the TY Referees on the completion of the Green Card Course.
