“Everyone would be buzzing for you and it makes you feel like all the training has paid off for your coaches and your team when you walk away with a medal…well…when you wheel away with a medal” says Geraldine McGarrigle, correcting herself with a smile.
Only a few can say they’ve ever managed to play in an All-Ireland final, and even fewer have had the privilege to have achieved glory at the level. McGarrigle is amongst that elite group, and having overcome many an obstacle and glass ceiling on that path will go down in the history books of wheelchair hurling for her numerous victories with Ulster, topped off by personal accolades too.
