Tesco Ireland announced as Youth Development sponsor of the Camogie Association

The Camogie Association are pleased to announce that Tesco Ireland has signed a 2-year deal to become its Youth Development sponsor until the culmination of the 2021 season.

Youth Development is a key area within the Association that touches all corners of the country at grassroots level. The work of both staff and volunteers within this area at Club and County level is aimed at ensuring that the sport is inclusive to any young woman or girl who wishes to participate in the game by providing them with opportunities to play the game at recreational and competitive levels.

The sponsorship will see Tesco support the All-Ireland Post-Primary Camogie Schools Championships as well as the All-Ireland Minor Camogie Championships. Additionally, the sponsorship will see Tesco support the Association’s Camán to Croker and Hurl With Me development initiatives.

Under the partnership, Tesco aims to engage with its network of stores in the communities that it serves and partnering with local Camogie Clubs to activate their initiatives over the lifetime of the agreement. In keeping with the Camogie Association ethos of inspiring young women and girls to play and empowering them to stay in the sport, Tesco will seek to bring community involvement to the forefront of the partnership.

Speaking at the announcement of the sponsorship, Camogie Association President Kathleen Woods said: “I am delighted to welcome Tesco Ireland as the latest sponsor of the Camogie Association. This commitment to our sport will allow our sport to continue its brilliant growth of recent years.

“Youth Development is a cornerstone of our sport as we continuously look to bring through future generations of players. We strive to create an environment which is fun and inclusive and allows all players to develop to their full potential and most importantly to enjoy playing Camogie.

“This sponsorship will enhance the work already being done in this area and we look forward to working with Tesco Ireland to find new and innovative ways to ensure an enjoyable experience for all young players within the sport.”

Speaking on behalf of Tesco Ireland, Kari Daniels, CEO, said: “We’re thrilled to secure this new partnership with the Camogie Association and we look forward to helping to inspire and empower young women and girls as they progress through the game’s life cycle. We’re excited to be involved and look forward to the years ahead.”
