The Camogie Association is delighted to launch the fifth year of our MNA Programme, in partnership with Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Policy. The MNA Programme primarily looks at the development of female mentors and coaches within clubs around the country.

The MNA Programme will act as an important step in supporting clubs to ensure the retention of players away from the playing field and the recruitment of females and that they will pass on their knowledge and experience to future players through coaching. The programme is seen as a model for clubs of how to develop a pathway to recruit, develop, retain, and support females within the club on their journey as coaches or in other volunteer roles. The role which women can play in passing on their intrinsic knowledge of the game to young players in particular is a key reason behind this programme and the part which they can play as positive role models for young players.

Participating clubs nominate a female mentor who will be upskilled across a wide range of areas including communications, mentoring and volunteer development. There are 100 places available for 2024.

MNA mentors also receive a practical session on how to deliver the Hurl with Me and receive resources on the newly revamped programme.

M.N.A Mentor Training will be held:

  • On the 2nd of March, or 9th of March – in person at one of our locations around the country. Mentors can decide on their day and venue.
    • Participants will receive training on mentoring, leadership, and communication. Plus, a practical session on the Hurl with Me Programme, to roll out within your club.

MNA Mentors must complete all training to proceed with the programme.

Requirements for MNA Mentor:

  • Attend online zoom session on Monday 19th of February at 7pm.
    • This session will provide an overview of the programme and answer any queries on the programme.
  • Attend 1 in person training day at a location of your choice.
